Chief Tabe Besong Rallies Mamfe Population to promote peace through football

Mamfe Population say the football innitiative of Chief Tabe Besong will go along way to promote love, peace and unity.

Mamfe, Manyu Division CameroonDenizens in Mamfe, Manyu Division of Cameroon's Southwest have been urged to promote peace, unity, and social cohesion at the launch of the 2026 edition of the Nne Moh Tabe Oben Besong Tournament in Mamfe Central. The tournament, launched on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at the Mamfe Municipal Stadium by the Senior Divisional Officer for Manyu, Awounfack Alienou Yves Bertrand, is aimed at bringing communities together through football.

Speaking during the event, the SDO called on residents to stay away from activities that create division and instead work towards strengthening unity within the community.

He also cautioned youths against engaging in harmful practices, particularly the consumption of drugs and other substances that negatively affect their future.

For the Mayor of Mamfe, Robertson Tabenchong Ashu, the occasion was also an opportunity to call for effective school resumption, encouraging parents and stakeholders to ensure children return to school when the academic year begins.

The cup donor, President General of south west Manyu cocoa exporters cooperative Union, Regent Chief of Kembong Tabe Besong, said peace remains the main reason behind the organization of the tournament. He added that the competition is designed to bring youths together while providing a platform for them to showcase and develop their talents.

The opening match of the tournament saw Small Mamfe take on Egbekaw, with Small mamfe securing a 1–0 victory.

The competition will bring together 13 teams from Mamfe Central, with organisers hoping the tournament will strengthen peace and unity among the people.

The Mamfe launch came just week after a similar tournament was launched Kembong Eyumunjock Sub-Division of Manyu Division.

Apart from sports, the philanthropist has also focused on assisting the population of Manyu Division in various spheres, as a business guru, he has also facilitated the employment of hundreds if youths in Manyu and beyond
