Tiko, CameroonAs part of Tiko Council’s development goals, the Lesley Foundation on Thursday, July 30, 2026 launched a new project aimed at fostering coexistence and resilience in Tiko through integrated social cohesion and economic empowerment.

The 12-month initiative, supported by GIZ and co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development - BMZ, seeks to strengthen community resilience, mitigate social tensions, and empower vulnerable populations through community-led infrastructure development and vocational training.

The project will be implemented in two communities in Tiko Municipality: Mudeka and Miselelele. The official launching ceremony took place at the Tiko Council Banquet Hall.

Dignitaries Present: The ceremony was attended by officials of the Lesley Foundation, sister Non-Governmental Organizations, the Head of Local Solutions in Tiko Council, Mr. Sone Julius, representing Mayor HRH Dr. Peter Ikome Mesoso III, Traditional Rulers, and Community Stakeholders from Mudeka and Miselelele Communities.

Background: The official launch on July 30, 2026 followed a sensitization visit on Friday, July 25, 2026. During that visit, officials from Lesley Foundation, CASAF, and a GIZ Technical Adviser, accompanied by Tiko Council’s 4th Deputy Mayor, Waindim Rudolf, representing the Mayor, and the Council Head of Local Solutions, Mr. Sone Julius, met with residents of the two communities to sensitize them on the importance of the project.

Next Steps: The launch paves the way for the immediate implementation of the project by the Lesley Foundation in partnership with Tiko Council.
