Tiko, Cameroon — The Mayor of Tiko Council, HRH Dr. Peter Ikome Mesoso III, has donated equipment to the Tiko Multipurpose Youth Centre, the Association of Persons Living with Disabilities (COBADE), and the Mudeka Girls Centre in Mongo.
The donation ceremony, held on Saturday at the Tiko Council Banquet Hall, brought together judicial authorities, security officials, youth affairs officials, council staff, zonal executives and members of the public.
According to Mayor Mesoso III, the donation is intended to empower young people, promote skills development and strengthen self-reliance within Tiko Municipality.
Each of the three beneficiary structures received two sewing machines, two hairdressing kits and a gas cooker.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Chief of the Tiko Multipurpose Youth Centre, Dr. Kate Vevanje, welcomed the donation, describing the equipment as an important boost towards making the centre fully functional.
She encouraged parents across Tiko Municipality to take advantage of the available equipment by sending their children to the centre to acquire practical skills. Fulfilling a Promise
The donation also marks the fulfilment of a commitment made by Mayor Mesoso III at the beginning of 2026.
FLASBACK
During a visit to Mudeka by the Swiss Ambassador to Cameroon, the Mayor reportedly promised the population that he would provide equipment to help sustain and strengthen the Mudeka Girls Centre. Months later, the Mayor has delivered on that promise, reinforcing his administration's stated commitment to youth empowerment, vocational training and social inclusion.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to Mayor Mesoso III for what they described as continued support for vulnerable groups and young people in Tiko Municipality.
The latest gesture adds to efforts aimed at equipping youths and other vulnerable groups with practical skills that can improve their livelihoods and promote economic independence.
