WASTE MANAGEMENT: LIMBE CITY MAYOR DONATES 6,000 TRASH BINS TO HOUSEHOLDS
Limbe — The Limbe City Council, LCC, under the leadership of Dr. Paul Efome L. M. Ngale, has recorded a major milestone in improving household waste management with the distribution of over 6,000 standardized trash bins to households across the municipality.
The official launch took place on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 and was presided over by the Senior Divisional Officer for Fako, Engelbert Viang Mekala.
The 120-litre bins, branded with the slogan n"LET'S CLEAN TOGETHER", are being provided through the LCC's renewed contract with HYSACAM
According to City Mayor Efome, the initiative aims to *improve household waste conditioning, ensure orderly collection, and enforce hygiene compliance
The renewed partnership will also facilitate the acquisition of more trucks and a crane to clean the Down Beach shoreline
HYSACAM Branch Manager, Mr. Nawossi Etienne, promised the arrival of new trucks and took responsibility for current collection delays. "This is not the fault of LCC, but ours. We are committed to timely collection,” he said.
Dr. Efome outlined other LCC efforts to fight waste littering: Reduction of illegal dump sites, Scouting site to host waste pre-collection points in quarters and villages, Clearing of blocked gutters and dredging of waterways through the Presidential Grant, Construction of metallic bins of 24 and 16 cubic meters for pre-collection points
The Fako SDO, Engelbert Viang Mekala, saluted the City Mayor and called on the population to be intentional about combating waste littering. He announced a *more vigorous enforcement of "Keep Limbe Clean" days across the municipality.
With the distribution process now triggered, mass delivery expeditions will follow in quarters and chiefdoms.
Limbe, City of Friendship.
