Limbe — Some 540 lawyers and notaries from the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon begins a 3-day capacity building workshop on the dematerialisation of securities in Limbe, Fako Division, South West Region, Wednesday July 29, 2026
The seminar runs from Wednesday July 29 to Friday July 31, 2026 under the theme: Dematerialisation of Securities
According to the President of the Cameroon Bar Association, Bâtonnier Mbah Eric Mbah, the workshop is the outcome of a meeting held on November 20, 2025 between the Cameroon Bar Association and the Autonomous Sinking Fund of Cameroon, CAA, represented by its Director General, Adolphe Noah Ndongo.
In a communique signed by the Secretary General of the Cameroon Bar Association, Barrister Serges Martin Zangue, it was stated that the lawyers, notaries, and Advocates-in-Training will be divided into groups of 180 participants per day for the intensive training.
The training is sponsored by the CAA. It will be officially opened by the Minister of Finance, H.E. Louis Paul Motaze, accompanied by the Director General of CAA and the Bar President.
Dematerialisation which involves converting physical securities like bonds and shares into electronic form, a key reform for Cameroon’s financial market, for the 3 days, participants will be drilled on: the legal framework and issues* of the dematerialisation of securities in Cameroon, the operational process for dematerialisation of securities in Cameroon and Obligations and recommendations for notaries within the dematerialisation process respectively
To note that the Autonomous Sinking Fund of Cameroon, CAA, is the public institution in charge of managing the country’s public debt and financing. It was created by Decree No. 85/1176 of 28 August 1985.
