Transport Officials Intensify Road Safety Enforcement in Kumba

Kumba — The Divisional Delegation of Transport for Meme has stepped up road safety enforcement in Kumba as part of the nationwide campaign initiated by the Ministry of Transport to promote responsible driving and reduce road accidents.

The operation saw transport officials deployed at strategic points across the town, where they inspected vehicles and motorcycles to verify drivers’ licenses, vehicle documents, and other mandatory requirements. Motorists were also educated on the dangers of speeding and encouraged to strictly observe traffic regulations.

According to the Divisional Delegate of Transport for Meme, Jérémie Okounou, the campaign is aimed at identifying drivers operating without valid licenses, those driving under the influence of drugs, and other road users who fail to comply with transport laws. He noted that vehicles impounded during the exercise are handed over to the Kumba City Council for further administrative action.

Although the national road safety campaign was officially launched by the Minister of Transport earlier this year, the Meme Divisional Delegation has now carried out its own local exercise in Kumba, joining other divisions across the country in implementing the initiative.
