Global — HRM Chief Nofuruh Ivens Disombe of Nake Bokoko, Mbonge Subdivision, Meme Division of the South West Region, is championing back-to-school in his chiefdom through the empowerment of women. He has launched a back-to-school drive for the 2026/2027 academic year, combining community sensitisation. During a ceremony held in Nake Bokoko, HRM Chief Nofuruh distributed cassava grinding machines and maize planting seeds to women’s groups in the chiefdom, prioritising those displaced by the crisis in the South West Region. Speaking at the event, the traditional ruler called on inhabitants to keep their children in the pursuit of education in the chiefdom, describing Nake Bokoko as a peaceful and law-abiding community. Chief Nofuruh hinted the women can attest to the remarkable success of the just-ended 2025/2026 school year. "Both the Government Nursery School, GNS, and Government Primary School, GS Nake Bokoko, recorded strong enrollments,” the Palace noted. Ahead of the new academic year, entrance interview into Form One at Government Technical College, GTC Nake Bokoko have been launched and ongoing at the Chief’s Palace. The traditional ruler has appealed to parents to avoid unnecessary financial burden and bring back children who were transferred to urban areas for schooling, adding that Nake Bokoko remains a safe environment for learning. He further assured residents of government's support with additional teachers expected to be deployed to the nursery, primary, and technical schools in the chiefdom. The gesture by the traditional ruler comes a week after the launch of the South West Area Village Barn Microfinance in Nake Bokoko aimed at improving livelihoods of the population coupled with the availability of potable water provided by the government of Cameroon in an environment of secured peace and hospitality. As it stands, the end of a successful 2025/2026 school year will greatly paved the way for a new one in Nake Bokoko village.
