SDF party officials accuse blame Kumba municipal authorities for the Kumba flood incident

Kumba, CameroonDuring a visit to areas hit by the 5th August, 2026 flood in Kumba,  SDF officials led by the District chairman of the Kumba III electoral District Bigda Um Rufus stated that the flood was eminent, because of councils have failed to implement proper waste management system, they have also failed to create a proper drainage system in the city of Kumba.

To him, there has also been little or no sensitization of the population by both municipal authorities as well as HYSACAM, the company charged with the managment of wastes in the city of Kumba.

Bigda went further to state that the SDF is focused on recovering all the councils, this to him will bring to an end such disasters.

"Kumba for the past years have been in the hands of bad managers, we are eorking hard to ensure that all the councils, as well as the city council are recoverd, so that our people will be better served" he stated.

The officials also stated that as social Democrats, they  will always support victims of such disasters depending on needs and means.

The visit was carried out on Thursday August 6, a day after the disastrous floods hit parts of Kumba, due to overflooding of the popular "Kumba water".

While condemning the councils for not living up to expectation in serving the Kumba population,  they also condemned the practice of desposing wastes, espercially plastic containers, in the various streams.

The flood has destroyed so many homes, leaving many families homeless.
