Limbe, CameroonI'm deeply saddened by the tragic landslide in Mbende Quarter, Mokeba Farms, Limbe, which claimed the lives of three members of the same family, including a young pregnant woman, following torrential rains and flooding. My heartfelt condolences go to the bereaved family, the people of Limbe, and all those affected by this devastating tragedy. I also pray for the swift recovery of the survivor who was rescued and is receiving medical care. The incident occurred after prolonged heavy rains triggered flooding and the collapse of a building in the early hours of Wednesday.

I join the Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute, the Mayor of Limbe, and all Cameroonians in mourning these precious lives. May God grant strength and comfort to the grieving family and eternal rest to the souls of Epulie Melanie, Meh Blessing Duh and her unborn child, and Fanny Duh.

This painful loss is also a solemn reminder that climate-related disasters are becoming more frequent and severe. We must all support efforts to reduce disaster risks by respecting building regulations, avoiding high-risk settlements, strengthening early warning systems, and protecting our environment.

May the memories of those we have lost remain a blessing, and may peace, comfort, and hope prevail even in this difficult moment.
