Kumba, Cameroon — FEICOM team has verified 150+ hectares secured for major livestock and agricultural project in Kake KUMBA, Southwest Region
A FCFA 30 billion agricultural industrialisation project earmarked for Kumba has taken a step forward, with officials of the Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance (FEICOM) carrying out a crucial field verification mission at the proposed site in Kake.
The verification exercise took place on Thursday, September 24, 2026, bringing together officials from FEICOM headquarters in Yaoundé and its South West Regional office in Limbe.
The mission was aimed at establishing the availability of the land and verifying the ownership and supporting documentation presented by the Kumba City Council.
FEICOM confirms site readiness Following the field inspection.
Itoe John Paul, representative of FEICOM's Department of Projects and Partnerships, said the team had successfully verified both the land and the documents submitted by the Council. According to him, the exercise represents one of the final stages of FEICOM's assessment before the project can advance further.
The ambitious initiative will reportedly combine large-scale livestock production, farmer support, vocational training and agricultural education for primary school pupils.
Among the activities envisaged are pig and poultry farming, with the project being developed in collaboration with Israeli partners.
Over 150 hectares secured in Kake
Kumba City Mayor Gregory Ntemoyok Mewanu welcomed the latest development, saying Kumba is ready to accommodate the investment. He revealed that the Council has secured more than 150 hectares of land in Kake, with the required documentation completed in collaboration with the relevant administrative and technical authorities. Mayor Mewanu further credited the Prime Minister, whom he described as the initiator of the project in Kumba and other beneficiary cities. He said the Council has now fulfilled its responsibilities and is awaiting the final decision of the State and the arrival of the project's partners.
2,000 jobs in sight.
One of the most vital attractions of the proposed project is its anticipated impact on employment. The investment is expected to generate about 2,000 jobs, while providing opportunities for skills development, farming and entrepreneurship, particularly for young people and women. If implemented, the project could also introduce large-scale agricultural production to the area while creating a network of opportunities for local farmers and businesses linked to the agricultural value chain.
From land verification to implementation.
Thursday's exercise provides evidence of progress in the preparatory phase, but the project is yet to enter its implementation stage. The next major step will depend on the State's final decision and subsequent deployment of the project's partners.
For Kumba, however, the verification of the Kake site signals that the proposed FCFA 30 billion agricultural investment is moving from plans and paperwork towards a potential reality.
