Tiger caught and being transported to the Kom palace few days after the enthronement of new Paramount Fon

Kumba, CameroonA TIGER FROM MULOIN, IS A THRONE REAFFIRMED IN KOM

By Tubuoh Pilate Kitcha YONGNAIN:

Just seven days after HRM King Kini Joseph ascended the throne of Kom, the forest gave back a sign that heaven allowed to manifest.

In Muloin, Njinikom Subdivision, a _nyamabo to mean tiger. The tiger was caught by a village hunter in.Muloin which gave the kom people reasons to smile as a kingdom. To outsiders it is wildlife news. To Kom people, it is covenant news. In Kom cosmology, the nyamabo(tiger) does not wander in by accident. It is a messenger from God all is well and its going well.

WHY THE TIGER MATTERS IN KOM CULTURAL CONTEXT: The nyamabo (tiger) has always sat at the center of Kom kingship. Its skin-back decorates the royal throne and the stool of His Royal Majesty in Laikom Palace. It is not just mere decoration as some may think. It is authority made visible. Only the Fon can sit on it. Only the Fon can wear it. That means when a nyamabo (tiger) appears at the start of a reign, the ancestors are literally “clothing” the new king with legitimacy.

KOM’S HISTORICAL FOREST: Komland is a forest kingdom, contrary to what I've seen on social media whereby lots of pondits are denying the fact that tigers are in Kom because Kom does not have any forest. I am a lover of our land and a historian that visited my native home only by 1996 as a full.grown adult but it took me no time to comb the areas and read their natural symbols and convictions though all my life,I've been away.

The hills of Njinikom, Fundong, and Belo are part of the Bamenda Highlands forest corridor the same ecosystem that for centuries harboured the nyamabo(tiger). According to oral history that I got; it says that Kom warriors tracked the tiger not for sport, but for rite. The forest was both arsenal and archive, and the village that brings to the palace, during the hunting season(njong ibiem),a tiger(nyamabo) alwaysgo back honoured by the king.. It gave medicine, meat, and monarchy. Catching a nyamabo in Muloin, therefore reconnects this reign to that original forest contract, to the king, his people, land, and ancestors.

WHERE POLITICS MEETS PROPHECY: The catch comes just one week after the lost king was found for enthronement, which undoubtedly is a signal that has a seal to any kom custodian. In a kingdom that has faced displacement, conflict, and cultural pressure in the North West Region, symbolism is governance. The palace will read this as divine ratification. The people will read it as stability returning. Chiefs in the kwifoyn will read it as a mandate to enforce tradition. It does not change policy overnight. But in Kom, legitimacy is the first policy. Without it, no decree holds; nomatter your circular epaulettes.

The tiger caught in Muloin is more than an animal. It is history walking out of the forest. For King Kini Joseph, it is an ancestral endorsement written in fur and claw: the same nyamabo(tiger) skin that will now back his throne.

I HAVE BEEN.MADE TO UNDERSTAND THAT, IN KOM, WHEN THE FOREST SPEAKS DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF A REIGN, THE KINGDOM LISTENS.

YOURS IN TRUTH AND TRADITION.

HIS WRETCHED SLAVE.
