Kumba, Cameroon — The City Mayor of Kumba, Greg Mewanu, has hailed the newly elected executive of the Kumba-Mamfe Highway Drivers’ Association for a peaceful election.
He equally praised the entire transporters’ union for their sense of responsibility and focus, while urging them to cultivate a culture of greater unity, fairness, and collaboration among all transport stakeholders.
The Mayor made the call during the installation ceremony of the new executive, held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Mabanda Motor Park
Addressing drivers, transport officials, and invited guests, the City Mayor emphasized that the smooth operation of the park depends on a strong working relationship between the Park Management, the Drivers’ Union, and the various transport associations.
He reiterated that the Park Manager remains the representative of the Kumba City Council at the park and called on all stakeholders to support his efforts in ensuring order and efficiency.
Appeal for Discipline and Road Safety
Mayor Greg Mewanu further urged the Drivers’ Union to uphold fairness and impartiality in coordinating all associations under its umbrella, noting that unity and mutual respect are indispensable for the growth of the transport sector.
He encouraged the newly installed executive of the Kumba-Mamfe Highway Drivers’ Association to promote discipline, professionalism, and road safety while working closely with both the Park Management and the Drivers’ Union in the collective interest of the traveling public and the development of Kumba City.
