Tiko, CameroonTIKO– The Tiko Fish Market an initiative of Tiko Council, is set to become operational in the days ahead.

This was disclosed during a meeting on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Mayor’s Chambers. The meeting brought together members of the ,Fako Fish Farmers Association, a Civil Society Organization.

Mayor HRH Dr. Peter Ikome Mesoso III thanked members of the Fako Fish Farmers Association for partnering with the Council to ensure the functionality of the fish market at Custom Beach

The Mayor noted that the market will go a long way in boosting fingerling production, which will serve as feed for fish and support local aquaculture.

He added that the project was conceived in 2022 and executed in 2023 under his leadership.

The delegation from the Fako Fish Farmers Association was received by Mayor Mesoso III, alongside the 4th Deputy Mayor, Waindim Rudolf, the Council Communal Development Officer, HRM Mbollo Ndedi Yves Patrice, and other Council staff.

Officials say the operationalization of the market is expected to create jobs, improve fish supply, and strengthen the local economy.
